Corrosion Resistance
Large-spangle galvanized steel coils feature a coarse zinc crystal structure with spangles typically exceeding 2mm in diameter. The thicker zinc oxide/zinc hydroxide protective film formed provides enhanced barrier protection against moisture and oxygen, offering superior corrosion resistance compared to spangle-free products. In salt spray tests (5% NaCl), a 45μm coating exhibits a corrosion rate below 1μm/year, extending service life 5-10 times over conventional steel.
