Galvanized Aluminum-Magnesium Coil (Hot-Rolled) | Al-Mg-Zn Steel
Our Galvanized Aluminum-Magnesium Coil (Hot-Rolled) is a next-generation coated steel product. Using a cutting-edge Al-Mg-Zn alloy coating (Aluminum, Magnesium, Zinc), this coil provides exceptional corrosion resistance. Unlike standard galvanized steel, the coating on this Hot-Rolled Al-Mg-Zn coil actively migrates to scratched or sheared edges, providing an incredible "self-healing" effect that dramatically extends service life up to 30 years or more, even in harsh coastal or industrial environments.
Appearance
The surface of aluminum-zinc-magnesium coated steel sheets features a fine spangle texture formed by crystallization. The neatly arranged, fine spangles give the coated product a more natural and refined appearance. A special resin protective film applied to the surface maintains the product's clean metallic luster. Compared to aluminum-zinc coated steel sheets, aluminum-zinc-magnesium coated steel sheets exhibit finer and more uniform spangles.
Characteristics
The aluminum-zinc-magnesium coating offers excellent corrosion resistance. The metallic elements in the alloy coating work synergistically to slow the consumption rate of the coating on the steel surface. Additionally, the corrosion resistance at cut edges and sections is significantly enhanced. In most cases, its performance surpasses that of aluminum-zinc coated steel sheets with equivalent coating weights, as well as galvanized steel sheets. The service life of aluminum-zinc-magnesium coated steel sheets exceeds 30 years under general environmental conditions.
Corrosion Resistance Mechanism of Aluminum-Zinc-Magnesium Coating
Aluminum-zinc-magnesium coated steel sheets utilizing activation technology leverage zinc in the alloy coating to provide sacrificial protection, while aluminum offers passivation protection. The incorporation of magnesium activates the alloy coating, synergizing with zinc and aluminum to reduce the consumption rate of the coating. This process forms an isolating protective layer at cut edges and sections and provides barrier protection within the coating, significantly enhancing the corrosion resistance of the coated steel product.

Cut-Edge Self-Healing: The unique chemical composition of Al-Mg-Zn forms a dense, protective oxide layer. If the surface or cut edge is scratched, the coating dissolves and re-precipitates to "heal" the exposed steel, preventing rust creep. This is a massive advantage over standard GI or GL coils.

Our Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium (ZAM) coils are manufactured using continuous hot-dip galvanizing (CGL) technology, equipped with a computer-controlled ZnAlMg alloy coating bath (temperature control ±2°C) and a precision air-knife system (coating weight accuracy ±3g/m²). The production line integrates a hydrogen-protected annealing furnace, high-speed roll coater, and online surface inspection system to ensure coating uniformity and zero surface defects. The fully automated process control system complies with international standards such as ASTM A1046/A1046M and JIS G3321, supporting customized coating compositions and special performance requirements.
